The Cabaret at The Marsh Berkeley
In WHAT JUST HAPPENED, Nina Wise in her signature style builds an improvised performance from the personal and political events which have transpired over the previous 24 hours. In 2009, Nina performed this piece at The Marsh in San Francisco to a sold out audience and received standing ovations. Nina’s work is extremely funny inspiring comparisons to Lily Tomlin and Feiffer’s cartoons, yet is also surprisingly poignant. Audiences repeatedly report that they are at one instant laughing so hard they are falling off their seats and the next moment, moved to tears.
Nina is a seasoned performer and a dedicated meditator. She brings her skills at stage and spirit into always unpredictable renditions of what it is like to be human.

"A metaphysical vaudevillian for the new millennium."
- Bob Morris, N.Y. Times columnist
"Wise’s innovative and spontaneous approach to telling her stories has earned her praise across the country. Her point blank eloquence is astonishing. A word to the Wise would be to go see Wise when you have the opportunity."
- Ashland Theater Review
"You leave a Nina Wise performance uplifted, as if you've seen something fresh, moving and above all, deeply human."
- Ashland Tribune
"No mere talking head, Wise possesses a supple physique, prodigious energy, and nerve with which to render the shapes and souls of things. Lovingkindness abounds in her work. She makes art as fresh as the day's headlines."
- Village Voice
"Performance artists come and go and often disappear to no one’s sorrow. But Nina Wise is something else again. She shapes theater pieces that are thoroughly grounded in theatrical design, rhythmic flow, intellectual commitment and emotional depth."
